What is the method of Tayammum?
Tayammum is performed in special circumstances when it is not possible or safe to use water, such as when water is not available, illness or health reasons, travelling, cold weather (if water is harmful) or lack of time. In these circumstances, Tayammum can be performed to replace wudu or ghusl so that one can continue to pray.
Method of Tayammum (dry ablution):
1. Niyat: First of all, make the intention of Tayammum that you are performing Tayammum in place of wudu or ghusl.
2. Say Bismillah: Say “Bismillah-hir-Rahman-nir-Rahim” (In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate) before starting Tayammum.
3. Strike hands on holy soil: Strike both your hands once on clean and holy soil, dust, or a surface (such as a clean wall or stone) that has mud on it.
4. Rubbing hands on face: Now rub both hands on your face, just like applying water on face in wudu.
5. Rubbing hands: After this, again hit the hands on the soil and rub the left hand on the back of the right hand and the right hand on the back of the left hand.
Now your tayammum is complete, and you are ready for prayer.
