How to Make Wudu

How to make wudu, step by step?

Wudu is an important process in Islam for physical and spiritual purity, which is done before Namaz and other worships. Performing wudu carefully and with true intentions not only provides physical purity, but also spiritual purity. Wudu is divided into some steps here. Let’s see.

1. Niyyat

In Wudu, first of all it is necessary to make Niyyat (intention). Before starting Wudu, make an intention in your heart that you are doing Wudu with the intention of attaining purity for the pleasure of Allah.

Having Niyat in the heart is enough, it is not necessary to say it with the tongue.

2. Reciting “Bismillah”

Start Wudu with “Bismillah” (with the name of Allah). This is a way of asking Allah for help and making Wudu blessed.

3. Washing the both hands

First wash both hands thoroughly up to the wrist. Let the water reach between every finger and both hands so that complete cleaning is done.

4. Gargle (Take water in mouth)

Take water in your right hand and put it in your mouth and rinse it thoroughly. Repeat this process three times so that your mouth is completely clean and water reaches every part of your mouth.

5. Nose watering

Take some water in your right hand and put it in your nose and clean your nose with the smallest finger of your left hand. Do this three times so that your nose is also cleaned.

6. Face washing

Wash your face three times from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your chin and from one earlobe to the other. Make sure that the water flows over every part of your face.

7. Hand washing up to the elbow

Wash your right hand from the wrist to the elbow three times. Then wash your left hand three times in the same manner. Make sure that the water reaches every part of your face.

8. Masah (head wiping)

Wet your hands and wipe your head. This should be done once. Move your hands from the front of your head to the back and then back to the front. Then wipe the inside and outside of your ears with your wet hands.

9. Washing the Feet

Wash your right foot up to the ankle three times, making sure that the water reaches between your fingers. Then wash the left foot three times in the same manner, taking care that the water reaches up to the ankle.

Wudu is completed here Now after completing wudu, recite this dua:

10. Dua after Wudu

“Ashhadu alla ilaha illallah, wahdahu la sharika lahu, wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan ‘abduhu wa rasuluh. Allahumma aj’alni minat-tawwabeen waj’alni minal-mutatahhirin.”

“I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah, He is One and has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger. O Allah, make me among those who constantly repent and purify themselves.”

Some important points to keep in mind while doing wudhu:

  • It is necessary to wash every part of wudu in the prescribed order.
  • Wash every part thoroughly so that water reaches every part.
  • Some things break the wudu, such as using the bathroom, passing air, sleeping deeply or laughing loudly during the prayer. In such a case, it is necessary to do wudu again before prayer.
