Dua-e-Qunoot is a special supplication recited during the Witr prayer. It is a heartfelt prayer asking Allah for guidance, help, forgiveness, and protection.
When and How is Dua-e-Qunoot Recited?
1. In the Witr Prayer:
- During the third rak’ah of Witr, after reciting Surah Al-Fatiha and another Surah.
- Say Takbeer (Allahu Akbar), raising your hands to your ears.
- Then recite Dua-e-Qunoot before going into Ruku.
2. During Times of Calamity:
In case of a major calamity (e.g., drought, war, or pandemic), it can also be recited during the final rak’ah of Fard Salah. This is known as Qunoot-e-Nazilah.

Translation of Dua-e-Qunoot (in English):
O Allah! We implore You for help and beg forgiveness of You and believe in You and rely on You and extol You and we are thankful to You and are not ungrateful to You and we alienate and forsake those who disobey You. O Allah! You alone do we worship and for You do we pray and prostrate and we betake to please You and present ourselves for the service in Your cause and we hope for Your mercy and fear Your chastisement. Undoubtedly, Your torment is going to overtake infidels O Allah!
